Extended-Air Air Springs
The bellows of Goodyear Extend-Air air springs are built to better withstand the extreme pressures for lift axle applications - pressures that often spell downtime with lesser springs.
When actuator tests were performed on standard convolution springs, turn-up faliure occured at approximately 10,000 cycles. The new Extend-Air bellows air spring has been run over 400,000 cycles without signs of cracking.
By virtually eliminating the problem of turn up cracking, Extend-Air bellows air springs greatly reduce the occurance of truck and trailer downtime. Extend-Air also prevents debris from lodging inside a turn-up opening, which can cause cord abrasion and early failure.
Extreme load pressures can often cause turn-up problems. Over time, a turn-up will seperate from the surface of the flex member, causing a circumferential crack. The result is expensive down time.
